| Chief of Safety POSITION IS LOCATED IN AFGHANISTAN Main Liaison: Internal: Outbound Operations Controller, Assistant Operations Controller, Maintenance QA, Chief of Maintenance, Chief Pilot, External: US Army Combined Joint Task Force, Senior US Military Officers, NATO/ISAF, Afghan Civil Aviation Authority, Afghan Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation, Afghan Ministry of Defense, other business units Prime Objective: Ensure safe (compliant) aviation operations that exceed customer expectations. Focused on preservation of life and equipment through integration and interoperability with US Military, NATO/ISAF, ICAO Key Tasks: Identify safety short comings and develop countermeasures to correct them while sustaining flight operations Develop internal safety programs and monitoring/reporting systems for internal and external use, e.g., Safety and Standard Operating Procedures Write, refine and assist other business units with contract tenders Develop procedures for recovery of downed aircraft and personnel Essential Skills and Qualifications: Detailed comprehension of FAA and ICAO requirements including, but not limited to: passenger operation, transport of hazardous material, standardization programs, compliance programs, weight and balance, flight plan filing and preparation Experience in aircraft and airspace deconfliction, A2C2 (Army Airspace Command and Control) Understanding of aircraft tactics, techniques, and procedures for: mountain flying and operations, restricted visibility operations, internal and external load operations, threat reaction and reporting procedures, performance planning, flight safety and crew discipline Ability to develop aircrew immersion and local area orientation procedures Knowledge and experience working with AR 95-1(US Army Flight Regulations) AFI 11-202 V3 (USAF Flight Regulations), and NATOPS (Naval/Marine Flight Regulations) Ability to lead a team of three people Former US Military trained Flight Safety Officer with one tour as an FSO Experience in aircraft mishap investigation Experience with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) Former Company/Battalion, Squadron/Wing level Flight Safety Officer Preferable Skills and Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. Degree(s) in Aviation Aerospace Management or Safety Combat flight experience in Iraq or Afghanistan Experience in Joint OperationsProven success in development of a robust aviation standardization and evaluation or aviation maintenance program US Military Maintenance Test Pilot | |
