| Chief of Maintenance POSITION IS LOCATED IN AFGHANISTAN Main Liaison: Internal: Operations Controller, Maintenance QA, Aircrews, Chief of Safety, Chief Pilot, Operations Managers External: Aircraft Supplier Managers, Afghan Ministry of Transportation and Civil Aviation, NATO/ISAF flight ops, Senior US Military Officers Prime Objective: To develop, plan, institute and manage a comprehensive maintenance program of fixed and rotary wing aircraft throughout Afghanistan. Key Tasks: Develops a comprehensive maintenance program encompassing a wide variety of aircraft makes, focusing on aircrew safety and operational readiness. Coordinates, directs, and supervises maintenance of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Develops a comprehensive reporting system of aircraft scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Identifies maintenance deficiencies and develops controls to prevent reoccurrences. Develops and maintain personal contacts with aircraft repair part providers. Sources necessary repair parts and technical advisors. Advises Operations Controller on maintenance status and operational capabilities of aircraft. Supervises team of maintenance experts and technicians. Essential Skills and Qualifications: Experience in inspection and compliance teams, either as a leader or participant QA/PC experience Former US/UK/AUS (or equivalent) Military Aircraft Maintenance Chief or Maintenance Management Officer, or extensive experience in a similar civilian role Successfully completed tour in either Iraq or Afghanistan or lived and worked extensively in a similar austere environment Familiarity with Soviet aircraft capabilities and controls, e.g., Mil Mi-8T/Mi-8MTV, Mil Mi26, Kamov KA-32, Illyushin IL-76, Antonov An-26/32, An-24 Experience in aircraft mishap investigation or AMIC Proven experience working within a multicultural environment Excellent written and spoken English Well developed computer skills Preferable Skills and Qualifications: Russian language abilities Any factory or overhaul facility experience (i.e. General Electric/Pratt and Whitney) Knowledgeable on Self Protection Systems (SPS) | |
