Assistant Operations Controller (Catering)

POSITION LOCATED IN AFGHANISTAN.

USA Interviews Sept.15-20th.

Responsibility for Staff:
Responsible to: Operations Controller Catering
Directly:
•Operations Managers Catering
•Administration Manager Catering

Indirectly:
•All Catering staff
Main Liaison:
Internal:
•MSD Central Services (Finance, ITD, HR)
External:
•Customer / Subcontractors / Supplier
Prime Objective:
•To support the Operations Controller Catering in the management and control of the running of the MSD Catering Operations.
Key Tasks:
•To support the Operations Controller in the following areas:
•Support to Operations Managers in relation to all operational aspects of the catering outlets
•Customer Liaison where directed
•Manage all reporting requirements. This includes the analysis of performance and recommendations of corrective actions to the OC.

•Inventory
•In Country Catering Interface - Liaison with Operations Managers in relation to catering units' performance.
•To monitor catering units' procedures in relation to HACCP, OHS&E and Quality.
•Administration
•Theatre Clearances
•ID Card Renewals
•Staff Leave
•Staff Movements
•Reviews
•Succession Planning: develop strategies and concepts with the Operations Controller Catering for the improvement and ongoing development of the MSD Catering Outlets.
•Assist in conducting internal audits of all aspects of the catering units on an ongoing basis ensuring strict compliance with both SFS operating principals and procedures.
•Review existing procedures as directed by the Operations Controller Catering recommending improvements and methods of implementation.
•Identify business development opportunities with current clients and make recommendations and assist in taking advantage of these opportunities.
•To assist in planning and managing change within the MSD operations in Afghanistan.
•To assist in the recruitment, development and training of staff where required.
•To assist in the management and security of the company's assets and maintain the assets to the highest standards possible.
•To encourage and gain commitment and ownership of the operation by all.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
•Diploma/degree in foodservices management from a recognized post secondary educational institution.

Desirable:
•A minimum of 10 years' experience within a multi facetted catering environment covering all aspects from purchasing through to administration.
•Having held a senior management position in other organizations.
