| Geriatrician/Physician for the Elderly We invite applications for the position of Consultant Geriatrician/Physician for the elderly. We are seeking a person with an enthusiasm and commitment to being part of the team progressing the DHB services for older people. A particular focus of the role will be the implementation of the New Zealand Health of Older People Strategy and other related strategies. Lakes District Health Board is responsible for the provision of health services within the central New Zealand Rotorua/Taupo/Turangi districts with a population of 100,000 of whom 31% are Maori. The main medical centre for secondary services is at Rotorua Hospital, where the position is based. Medicine for the Elderly with its acute medical and rehabilitation components are delivered from a purpose built facility on the Rotorua site. It is strongly multidisciplinary with service based allied staff. The service interacts with other clinical services within both Rotorua and Taupo as well as community and primary care providers. The successful applicant will be supported by a close working relationship with other senior clinicians and in particular a team of 9 Physicians in Rotorua and 2 in Taupo. There is an expectation to participate in the acute medical call roster. Applicants must be eligible for Vocational (Specialist) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. | |
