| Radiologist Radiologist Rotorua, New Zealand A new vacancy for a consultant Radiologist in Rotorua, New Zealand has arisen. There have been exciting new and forthcoming developments within Lakes District Health Board radiology department. The department provides imaging in most modalities across a large geographical area of the north island at two principle sites, Rotorua and Taupo. Rotorua Hospital boasts a recently installed 1.5T Philips Achieva MR unit and brand new 64 slice GE Lightspeed CT. There are three newly equipped general room across the radiology and emergency department. Screening and interventional services are provided with a dedicated Toshiba C-arm fluoroscopy suite. The department has a single GE Logic 9 ultrasound unit and has recently purchased a second for expansion. The department at Taupo hospital currently comprises of plain film radiology. Reporting is performed via a Cedara teleradiology workstation. Lakes District Health Board have approved the installation of a new RIS/PACS system across both sites the implementation of which is predicted to be complete by March 2009. Further service expansion in ultrasound and mammography is also being considered. Cardiac CT and interventional musculoskeletal services are newly commenced. The department currently consists of four radiologists (two New Zealand and two UK trained) and one registrar. It is envisaged that the new appointee will join in a 1 in 5 on call roster. Renumeration is negotiable upon experience and now encompasses recent new salary scale implementation and increased continued medical education budget. Assistance will be given for relocation and there will be the opportunity to participate in a new purpose built private practice, located centrally in Rotorua. Applicants must possess FRANZCR/FRCR or equivalent and hold or be within 3 months of obtaining specialist registration. Candidates must be eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council. Rotorua and the Bay of Plenty Region encompasses an area of natural beauty and is considered to be the adventure and tourist capital of New Zealand. Recent local developments include a new purpose built conference centre/sports hall and introduction of Trans-Tasman international flights direct to Rotorua Airport expected to commence next year. There are 13 lakes locally within an area brimming with thermal activity, all in easy access, to all areas of the North Island and Auckland.
